Melanie Arens is a recently qualified solicitor and the founder of Later On Lawyers, a LinkedIn networking and support community for mature aspiring lawyers and career changers to law.
Melanie studied law at the University of Southampton before pursuing a career in the local authority children’s services that spanned 13 years and covered sectors including youth justice and young people leaving care.
Melanie’s career change to law started in 2017 and saw her winning the Resolution Prize 2019 for her grade in Family Law on the LPC before completing a split training contract across a commercial law firm and boutique family law specialist.
Melanie set up the group Later On Lawyers to connect career changers to law with one another and support them on their journey to qualification. She is a regular webinar host on all matters careers in law and speaks about working parenthood, healthy workplaces and mental wellbeing in law. Melanie is a mentor to aspiring lawyers and is a regular panelist on the Legist Lab.
